MUNIN · HEADWEAR / CARE

To clean a cap without deforming it, the key is not to use more water: it is to clean by area, treat sweat, and dry it while keeping its shape.

We show you how to do it by hand with simple materials. Before you start, always check the care label and test the product on a less visible area.

ANTES DE EMPEZAR

Tres cosas que debes revisar

01 / ETIQUETA

Check the composition and whether the manufacturer allows damp cleaning.

02 / ESTRUCTURA

Look at the visor, front, reinforcements, and any delicate patch or detail.

03 / COLOR

Test diluted soap first on a discreet area, especially on dark colors.

Materiales: solo lo necesario

Cold or slightly warm water (if the label allows), a little mild soap without bleach, a microfiber cloth, a soft-bristle brush, and a clean towel.

A simple rule Dampen the cloth or brush, not the whole cap. Add water only when necessary and allowed.

TUTORIAL VISUAL

How to hand-wash a cap, step by step

From the first stain to drying: seven steps to clean gently and protect the shape.

01

Empieza en seco

Remove dust with a soft brush or clean cloth. That way you avoid dragging it when you start dampening the fabric.

STEP 02

Treat stains first

Apply a small amount of diluted mild soap with a barely damp cloth. Use dabbing or short strokes without rubbing hard.

Si no desaparece: rinse off the soap, check that the fabric has not changed, and repeat gently if it is safe.

STEP 03

Dedica tiempo a la banda interior

This is the part in contact with your forehead and often collects sweat and oil. Clean it with a very soft cloth or brush and diluted soap.

Importante: work only the band; there is no need to soak the crown or visor.

STEP 04

Clean the exterior without pressing

Work panel by panel with a lightly damp cloth or brush. Follow the direction of the fabric and avoid pressing repeatedly on the same spot.

On our Essentials y Heritage Club, pay attention to the seams and clean around the embroidery gently.

05

On the visor, use very little moisture

Pass a lightly damp cloth over both sides without folding or twisting it. If you do not know the inner material, avoid soaking it completely.

The visor can be cleaned, yes. Soaked, no.
STEP 06

Rinse the soap well

Pass another clean cloth dampened with water only. Repeat as many times as needed to remove residue without saturating the cap.

You do not need to put it under a strong stream of water to rinse it.

STEP 07 · THE MOST IMPORTANT

Dry without losing the shape

Press with a clean towel to absorb moisture: never twist the cap. Then shape the crown with your hands and let it air-dry away from intense sun and direct heat.

Then: rest it on a rounded support that does not force the crown or visor.

THE MUNIN TIP

How much water does a cap really need?

Menos de la que imaginas.

Limpieza localizadaFor dust, everyday sweat, or specific stains, start with a barely damp cloth.
Deeper cleaningOnly if the label and structure allow it. Being 100% cotton does not guarantee that the visor or reinforcements can be immersed.

Sweat, tough stains, or bad odor?

Sweat marks

Start with the inner band and treat visible marks with diluted mild soap after checking that it does not affect the color.

Persistent stains

Repeat spot cleaning if the fabric tolerates it. Not every stain comes out: avoid rubbing harder to force it.

Bad odors

Clean the inner band especially and let the cap dry completely before storing it.

EVITA ESTOS ERRORES

Lo que no debes hacer

✕ Soaking a cap without checking how it is built.

✕ Using bleach, hot water, or aggressive stain removers.

✕ Scrubbing embroidery with a stiff brush.

✕ Wringing it out or drying with a radiator, hair dryer, or tumble dryer.

NO TODAS SON IGUALES

What changes depending on the material?

Cotton: accepts gentle care, but it may lose color or shrink with unsuitable treatments. The visor and reinforcements may be made of another material.

Synthetics: follow its label; behavior depends on the fabric and finishes.

Lana, ante o piel: need specific care. Do not automatically apply this tutorial to them.

MADE TO LAST IN YOUR EVERYDAY

Shape is part of the style too.

MUNIN Essentials and Heritage Club caps are 100% cotton, but their panels and shape may differ. Gentle cleaning and proper drying help care for both without losing sight of how they are built.

PREGUNTAS FRECUENTES

We answer the last questions

Can I soak a cotton cap?

Do not assume it: even if the fabric is cotton, the visor, reinforcements, or embroidery may be made of other materials. Check the manufacturer instructions first.

Is it advisable to put a cap in the washing machine?

Only if the label explicitly allows it. If you want to control the cleaning and keep the shape, start with the manual method.

How do I avoid water rings after cleaning?

Use very little diluted soap, rinse it off well with a clean cloth, and always test first on a discreet area. Some fabrics and stains may leave marks despite these precautions.

How often should I clean my cap?

It depends on use. Remove dust when needed and clean the inner band when you notice dirt, sweat residue, or odor, without waiting until the whole cap needs a deep clean.
