Guías, consejos e inspiración para sacar más partido a tus accesorios MUNIN.

Cleaning a watch well is not about using more products, but knowing what each material needs.

In most cases a soft cloth, very little moisture, and a few minutes are enough. The case, metal bracelet, leather, and silicone are not cared for in the same way.

In this guide you will find what to do, what to avoid, and when a part already needs inspection or replacement. To clean a MUNIN watch we do not recommend submerging it or placing it directly under the tap.

Lo que necesitas

Very little to do it right

  • Soft, clean microfiber cloth.
  • Another lightly damp cloth.
  • Cepillo de dientes de cerdas muy suaves.
  • Mild soap only when necessary.

Mejor evitar

More force does not mean better

Avoid alcohol, bleach, acetone, glass cleaner, solvents, scouring pads, abrasive products, and aggressive metal cleaners. They can affect materials, finishes, or sealing elements.

01 · Limpieza habitual

Case and crystal: always start with the gentlest approach

To remove dust, smudges, and surface grease, start with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.

If residue remains, lightly dampen part of the cloth, pass it gently over the area, and then dry with the clean, dry section.

Un detalle importante: if a mark does not disappear when cleaning, do not keep increasing pressure. It may be a scratch or wear, not dirt.

02 · Metal

Bracelet and clasp: clean where you cannot see as well

Sweat, dust, and moisture can build up between links and around the clasp even when the bracelet looks clean.

For a normal clean

Pass a soft cloth over the entire bracelet, especially the side in contact with your skin.

If there is dirt between the links

  1. Humedece ligeramente un cepillo muy suave.
  2. Add a small amount of mild soap if needed.
  3. Work gently between links and around the clasp.
  4. Remove all soap with a clean damp cloth.
  5. Seca muy bien, especially inside the gaps.

Do it locally. Do not submerge the watch or place it under the tap.

Do you see dark, yellowish, or greenish residue?

Start with the same procedure: mild soap, a very soft brush, and thorough drying. Prolonged buildup of sweat, moisture, and dirt can lead to corrosion even on stainless steel components.

No recurras directamente a vinagre, bicarbonato, estropajos o limpiametales agresivos.

If the discoloration does not go away, returns quickly, or you see corrosion around a pin or the clasp, stop trying and have the bracelet checked. A worn pin is no longer just a cosmetic issue.

03 · Correas

Leather and silicone are not cared for the same way

Diferencias entre cuidar una correa de cuero y una de silicona

Leather

Menos humedad es mejor

For dust, use a soft, dry cloth.

If the strap is damp from sweat, absorb the moisture as soon as possible without rubbing hard and let it dry naturally in a ventilated place.

Do not use a hair dryer, radiator, or direct sun to speed up drying.

What if it starts to look aged?

Leather changes with wear. Sweat, moisture, sunlight, and friction can eventually cause color loss, stiffening, deformation, and cracks.

Caring for it can slow that process, but there is no universal home remedy that returns an aged strap to its original condition.

If it is stiff, very misshapen, split, or cracked, it is time to replace it.

Silicone

A simpler clean

Use a soft cloth lightly dampened for everyday cleaning.

If dirt persists, use a small amount of mild or neutral soap, then remove all residue with another clean damp cloth and dry completely.

Avoid solvents, bleach, and other aggressive chemicals.

When should it be replaced?

If it loses elasticity, cracks appear, or it starts to tear, cleaning will no longer fix the problem and replacement is the right step.

Everyday habits

Sweat, perfume, and cosmetics

Often keeping a watch in better condition depends more on what we do after wearing it than on a deep clean.

Sweat

After a hot day or heavy sweating, pass a soft cloth over the back of the watch and the inside of the strap. Do not store it while still damp.

Perfume y cremas

A simple rule: perfume and cosmetics first, watch afterward. Let products dry or absorb before putting the watch on.

Chemical products

Avoid contact with bleach, acetone, solvents, and cleaning products. They can alter materials, finishes, or sealing.

04 · Sal y arena

After the beach, order matters

The beach combines sweat, salt, sand, and sunscreen. You do not need a complicated clean, but you should do it carefully.

Si tiene arena

No empieces frotando. Remove visible particles first with a very soft brush. When no grains remain that could be dragged across the surface, finish with the cloth.

Si tiene restos de sal

Use a clean cloth lightly dampened with fresh water, pass it gently as many times as needed, and dry completely afterward.

We do not recommend submerging a MUNIN watch or placing it under the tap to remove salt.

And here is a common misconception: a rating of 3 ATM / 30 M on a watch does not mean we can treat those 30 meters as a real depth for use. Find out what 3 ATM / 30 M water resistance really means.

05 · Prevention

Knocks, heat, cold, and moisture

You do not need to treat the watch as if it were extremely fragile. Simply avoid situations that can accelerate wear.

Golpes

A strong impact can affect the crystal, clasp, pins, or movement. If something feels different after a knock, it is worth having it checked.

Calor

Evita dejarlo durante horas en un coche al sol, junto a radiadores, en saunas o expuesto a fuentes intensas de calor.

Extreme cold

Extremely low temperatures can also temporarily affect operation.

Humedad

Do not store the watch wet or covered in sweat. Clean it, let it dry, and then store it.

06 · Almacenamiento

Store it clean and completely dry

If you will not wear it for a while, store it in a dry place with stable temperature and no direct sunlight.

Avoid storing it next to keys, tools, or other metal objects that could scratch it.

With a leather strap it is especially important to make sure no moisture remains before storing it.

07 · Mantenimiento

Battery and minor servicing

When the battery runs out, replace it rather than leaving the watch with a dead battery inside for years. Over time there is a risk of leakage and internal damage.

We recommend having the replacement done by a professional. Opening the case incorrectly can let dust in or affect the watch's sealing.

Every now and then, simply look at your watch

✓ Clasp condition
✓ Pins and links
✓ Correa y posibles grietas
✓ Crown and pushers
✓ Humedad bajo el cristal

No necesitas seguir un calendario complicado. Act when you notice something different.

What to remember

The easy routine to care for your watch

AFTER WEARING IT

If it has sweat, moisture, or many smudges, pass a soft cloth.

WHEN IT IS DIRTY

Clean only what is necessary and use the right method for its material.

ANTES DE GUARDARLO

Make sure it is clean and completely dry.

IF IT IS ALREADY WORN

Do not turn to increasingly aggressive products. Some parts simply reach the end of their useful life.

Preguntas frecuentes

Algunas dudas habituales

Can I clean my watch with alcohol?

We do not recommend it as a general method. Some alcohols and solvents can affect straps, finishes, and other components. It is not necessary for everyday maintenance.

Can I put my MUNIN watch under the tap?

We do not recommend submerging it or placing it directly under the tap as a cleaning method. See our guide on what 3 ATM / 30 M water resistance means.

How do I remove marks from the crystal?

Usually a clean, dry microfiber cloth is enough. If marks remain, lightly dampen part of the cloth and finish by drying the crystal.

Can I restore a heavily aged leather strap?

Care can slow aging, but it cannot fully reverse it. If it has hardened, cracked, deformed, or is close to breaking, the right step is to replace it.

What should I do if I see green residue or oxidation on the bracelet?

Start with mild soap, a very soft brush, and thorough drying. If stains do not go away, return, or corrosion affects pins or the clasp, have the bracelet checked instead of using harsher products.

What should I do if I see moisture inside the crystal?

Internal moisture is not solved by cleaning the surface. Avoid further water exposure and have the watch checked.

Should I change the battery when it runs out?

Yes. It is not advisable to leave a dead battery inside the watch indefinitely. To maintain proper case sealing, we recommend having the battery replaced professionally.

Un poco de cuidado marca la diferencia

You do not need special products or a complicated routine. Clean off sweat and dirt, use the right method for each material, and do not ignore early signs of wear.
